Developing a 50 MW green hydrogen hub in Neumünster, set to produce up to 5,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
This globally unique facility integrates a closed-loop hydrogen production cycle, utilising renewable energy from wind and solar, repurposing waste heat, and supplying high-purity oxygen for industrial applications.
Designed by Hadi Teherani Architects, the 133 million euro facility will serve as both a production site and innovation hub, featuring a visitor and research center. Hydrogen from the hub will support regional industry, mobility sectors, and a nearby hydrogen refueling station. By leveraging surplus renewable electricity, Infener aims to stabilise the grid while advancing Europe's hydrogen economy.
Neumünster marks the beginning—Infener plans to expand its hydrogen hubs across Germany, Spain, and Norway, contributing to the EU’s goal of 40 GW electrolyser capacity by 2030.
